Registration
- The registration fee with be €25 per debater, and €15 per judge.
- We will enforce n-1 for judges, but if institutions sending just 1 team wish to send a judge too, that is very welcome.
- Only Baltic societies may enter during the first stage of registration. For the purposes of this competition 'Baltic' will mean the three Baltic states - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and then any countries with Baltic Sea coastline (eg Germany, Denmark, Sweden etc).
- Each institution will be able to register 2 teams in the first stage of registration. This will be raised to 3 teams in the event that the cap is not reached.
- The second stage of registration will be opened in Late-February, here Baltic societies may register their 3rd teams if the cap is not full.
- Registration will work as follows
1) From Feb 1st onwards, email the teams you wish to register to our Reg Officer: Anna Bessonova, at helsinkidebating@gmail.com
2) If the team cap has been reached already you will be informed at this point, and placed on a waiting list if you wish.
3) If the team cap has not been filled, you will then be sent our bank details and IBAN code so that you can transfer us the reg fee. Please try to include the name of your institution as a reference when you transfer the fee.
4) You will be pre-registered for 5 days after the initial acceptance email back from us and a space will be held for your team in this time. If in that period you transfer the full fees then your status will be upgraded to full registration, and if not, then your status will lapse to unregistered, and your reserved places will be re-opened for other teams.
- A list of registered teams, and their statuses will be posted as often as possible on this website.
- For registration issues please contact our registrations officer, Anna Bessonova at helsinkidebating@gmail.com

Socials
On Friday, we'll treat you to the ultimate Finnish experience, in a sauna and swimming centre reserved just for us. There's no better way to relax after a tough day of debating than to kick back in the steam room, drink a beer or two and cool down in the pool afterwards. Bring your swimsuit!
On Saturday we'll host a buffet dinner after the grand final - this will be done in the classic Scandinavian manner - lots of good food, wine, beer and drinking songs! After that you'll get entry to one of the best clubs in Helsinki so you can celebrate/reminisce about the results in style!
Tournament
Speeches in the Prelims will be 5 mins in length. The semi and final will be 7 mins.
Judging will follow worlds rules, and use the worlds scoring system. We will aim to have good sized panels in each room, and bring in adjudication from across Europe.
The Final will be held in one of the grand halls at the University of Helsinki, in front of a number of invited guests. Formal or smart-casual wear is recommended.
Accommodation
As it is quite a small tournament, and we have quite a few of our own people willing to put you up, we expect you will be getting quite a nice crash. No need to worry about sharing a storage room with 12 other people.
It is recommendable that you do bring your sleeping bag nonetheless.
Breakfast will be provided by your crash person on Saturday morning.
